Would you like your class to experience hands-on computer science? The Faculty of Computer Science offers several workshops for this purpose. In these workshops, your pupils will develop their own ideas and build a prototype.
The offer at a glance
Developing technology and then putting it into practice themselves
How can new technologies solve current challenges in the aerospace sector? Your pupils will work using design thinking. They will examine a current challenge, develop their own ideas and learn about modern technologies. They will then build a prototype that brings their invention to life.
To round off the session, participants will try out a flight simulator developed by students at Worms University of Applied Sciences as part of their final-year project.
Also available as a ‘Girls Only’ session.
From a digital idea to a real product
What happens when creativity meets computer science? Your pupils create their own designs on the computer and learn about digital tools and modern manufacturing techniques.
The idea on the screen then becomes something you can hold in your hands. Participants produce their designs, for example, using a 3D printer or by machining them from wood with a CNC machine. In this way, they experience the journey from digital design to the finished piece.
Also available as a ‘Girls Only’ session.
Shaping the food industry of tomorrow through technology
How can computer science and modern technologies solve challenges facing the food industry? Using Design Thinking, your pupils will first tackle a current challenge. During the creative phase, they will learn about different technologies and consider which of these could be suitable for a solution.
These ideas give rise to their very own invention. The participants then build their own prototype.
Also available as a ‘Girls Only’ session.
Protecting our oceans with creative ideas and new technologies
How can modern technologies and computer science help reduce plastic waste in our oceans? Your pupils will explore how plastic waste can be prevented, collected, identified or recycled more effectively.
Using design thinking, they will develop their own solutions and, in the process, learn about technologies that could be used for their invention. They will then build a model of their solution. In this way, they will experience how sustainability, creativity and computer science can be combined.
