Spend a semester abroad
Undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Tourism and Transport have the opportunity to spend part of their degree programme abroad. We have ERASMUS partnerships with many European higher education institutions, which means that our students can benefit, for example, from reduced or fully waived tuition fees abroad.
We’ll help you prepare for your semester abroad:
- Help with choosing a partner university
- Selecting the modules to be taken at the partner university
- Drawing up a Learning Agreement for the recognition of academic credits earned abroad
The Faculty’s partner universities
The Faculty of Tourism and Transport has numerous partnerships with international universities. Within the Bachelor’s degree programmes in ‘Aviation Management’ and ‘Aviation Management and Piloting’, there are additional collaborations with, amongst others, universities in the USA, China and South Korea. Furthermore, the doors of Worms University of Applied Sciences’ partner universities worldwide are open to our students.
Double degree programme
On the double-degree programme, you will study at two locations and, in addition to the Bachelor of Arts in Tourism and Travel Management or the Master of Arts in International Tourism Management from Worms University of Applied Sciences, you will also obtain the corresponding degree from the partner university abroad.

Work placement abroad
Students in the Faculty of Tourism and Transport can undertake both compulsory placements, as set out in the degree programme, and voluntary placements abroad.
There are many good reasons to undertake an internship abroad:
Applying the knowledge you have acquired in an international working environment
Improving your foreign language skills
Developing intercultural skills
Building valuable relationships with international companies
There are numerous funding opportunities that students can take advantage of when undertaking an internship abroad. In addition to general funding programmes, there are a number of subject- and sector-specific programmes, as well as those tailored to specific countries and regions. For example, the Willy Scharnow Foundation for Tourism supports young tourism professionals training in Germany who wish to undertake a short-term internship at a tourism company abroad. The ERASMUS+ programme supports interns across Europe, regardless of their field of study. Travel grants can be applied for through PROMOS, the ‘Programme to Increase the Mobility of German Students’. For compulsory work placements, BAföG funding for study abroad may also be applied for under certain conditions.
Further information on internships abroad can be found on the website of the International Centre at Worms University of Applied Sciences or on the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) website.
