Instructions for Using the Dual-Monitor Workstations

Additional Information

Please bring your own charging cable to charge your laptop.
You can adjust the monitor’s position as needed using the monitor arm.
Speakers are available. Please turn down the volume on your laptop or turn it off.

The following cables are available for connecting the monitor:

➢ Only one cable can be connected at a time
A - USB-C cable to the monitor (without charging function)
B - HDMI cable to the monitor
C - VGA cable to the monitor

If you want to charge your device and use the screen at the same time, you can borrow an additional adapter at the circulation desk. This is useful, for example, if your device has only one USB-C port for charging and video output. Your device must have another compatible port.

You can borrow the following adapters:

  • DisplayPort–HDMI adapter: Connects to the monitor’s HDMI cable
  • Mini DisplayPort–HDMI adapter: Connects to the monitor’s HDMI cable

Please note:

The loan period ends on the day of checkout.

Remove the adapter before leaving your workstation.

Return the adapter along with the box to the circulation desk.

If you want to connect or set up the monitor, or if no image is displayed, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the appropriate monitor cable to your laptop.
  2. The monitor should connect automatically. By default, the content of your laptop screen will be mirrored on the second monitor (“Duplicate this display”).
  3. If no image is displayed, check to see if the monitor is turned on. A blue or orange indicator light shows that the device is on. The power button is located on the lower right side of the monitor.
  4. If your laptop does not automatically recognize the monitor, open

2. Under “Multiple Screens” (scroll down), open the drop-down menu and select “Extend these displays” (Image B), then confirm the change on your laptop when prompted. Window: “Keep” (Image C)

4) For example, if you want to display a presentation on the second screen while viewing your Word notes on your laptop at the same time, drag the presentation window with the mouse across the connection point to the second screen.

Example: If the screens are arranged as shown in Figure D, the connection point is located at the right edge of your laptop and the left edge of the second screen. Drag the presentation window to the right onto the second screen.

5) You can change the screen layout in the display settings. To do this, move the screen panels as needed and then click “Apply” to save the change.

Example: If the screens are arranged as shown in Figure E, the connection point is at the top edge of your laptop and the bottom edge of the second screen. In this case, drag the presentation window upward onto the second screen.

Step 8

6) When you're finished, unplug the display cable from your laptop. Your laptop will automatically restore the original display settings.

Connecting a Display (Mac)

Connect the appropriate display cable to your MacBook.

The MacBook should automatically detect the display.

The remaining steps are largely the same as the instructions for Windows.

If you want to change the arrangement of the screens, open System Preferences > Displays. Under “Arrange”, you can arrange the screens as needed.
