Funding and Scholarships
Various funding opportunities are available for studying abroad. Below is an overview of the key programs.
Please note:
Partner universities abroad generally do not award scholarships to exchange students.
However, some countries and universities offer funding opportunities for students wishing to complete a full Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program there.
If you are interested in completing a full degree program abroad, please contact the university of your choice directly for information on available funding options.
You can also receive BAföG funding for study abroad even if you do not receive BAföG for your studies in Germany.
This is because studying abroad can entail additional costs—for example, higher tuition fees. Consequently, students who do not receive BAföG in Germany may still be eligible for funding.
You can apply for BAföG for study abroad lasting a minimum of twelve weeks and a maximum of one year.
BAföG for study abroad may also be granted for a full degree program at a higher education institution in an EU member state or in Switzerland.
