Interaction & Visualisation

In the ‘Interaction & Visualisation’ specialisation, you will explore key topics in computer science relating to interaction, visualisation and user-centred systems in greater depth.

You will learn to plan, design and evaluate interactive and visual applications. In doing so, you will be involved in the development process from the initial idea right through to the tested prototype.

The focus is on user experience design, the visual presentation of data, graphical technologies and methods for evaluating applications. You will learn how to make interactive systems understandable, user-friendly and meaningful.

Design-led. User-centred. Analytical.

Interaction & Visualisation focuses on the development of interactive and visual systems that convey information clearly and enable targeted interaction.

The focus is on three areas:

  • designing and evaluating interactive user interfaces
  • visually presenting and analysing data
  • developing dialogue- and language-based interaction concepts

You combine interaction design, visual computing and conversational systems. In doing so, you take into account the needs of users, technical capabilities and the objectives of the respective application.

Here’s what you can expect

You will develop knowledge in the following areas:

  • Interaction Design: You will focus on usability and user experience.
  • User Research: You will analyse target groups and make use of surveys and observations.
  • Prototyping and Evaluation: You will develop prototypes and test them with users.
  • Visual Design: You will focus on colour, typography, imagery and the design of user interfaces.
  • Visual Computing: You will learn the fundamentals of graphical data processing and visualisation.
  • Information Visualisation and Visual Analytics: You present data visually and analyse it.
  • Conversational and Semantic Computing: You will work with dialogue-based systems.
  • Interactive Prototypes and Applications: You will develop interactive applications and prototypes.
