Mobile computing
In the Mobile Computing specialisation, you will explore key topics in computer science relating to mobile systems in greater depth. You will learn how to develop modern, connected applications, from the initial idea through to the finished app.
This is not just about programming. You will learn to plan mobile software, design it interactively and continuously improve it.
The focus is on mobile architectures, interaction concepts, network infrastructures and real-world requirements. You will learn how secure, high-performance and user-friendly mobile applications are created.
Practical. Application-oriented. User-centred.
Mobile computing refers to the development of intelligent, mobile and networked software systems – wherever people interact with digital systems.
The focus is on three areas:
- designing and developing mobile applications
- integrating and utilising server-side services
- designing intuitive and user-friendly interfaces
You will learn how mobile and distributed systems work from a technical perspective. In doing so, you will take into account user-friendliness, security and scalability.
Here’s what you can expect
You will develop expertise in the following areas:
- Mobile Application Engineering: You will plan and develop mobile apps.
- Front-end architectures and design patterns: You will learn to build applications in a structured way.
- Digital Product Development: You will deal with requirements, planning and implementation.
- Back-end and Software Architecture: You will develop server-side systems for mobile applications.
- Quality attributes: You will focus on security, availability and scalability.
- Development Tools and DevOps: You will work with version control and development tools.
- Interaction Design: You will focus on usability, user experience and design.
- User research and prototyping: You’ll learn methods for user-centred development.
