Students gain fascinating insights into the Lufthansa IOCC

A field trip to the Lufthansa Integrated Operations Control Centre gave students at Worms University of Applied Sciences a first-hand understanding of the complex operational decision-making processes involved in air transport. Using a real-life scenario, it became clear just how challenging the management of international flight connections can be.

In the leadership simulation, which replicates real-life decision-making processes in the tourism industry, the participants tackled a challenging case study. Faced with sudden changes and time-sensitive tasks, the participants were able to strengthen their leadership skills and apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.

This once again highlighted the strength of diverse teams. The participants brought a variety of professional backgrounds and diverse experiences to the simulation. These differing perspectives made it possible to analyse problems from various angles and develop potential solutions. The intensive collaboration and high level of commitment, which continued late into the evening, ultimately led to the successful completion of the simulation.

This was made possible through a partnership with the BZLU Education Centre in Lucerne. The Swiss partners have many years’ experience with simulations and supported Worms University of Applied Sciences in implementing the project.
