Interview und Podiumsdiskussion im Rahmen einer Wirtschaftskonferenz und einer Präsentation.

The first Worms Tourism Day (WTT), to be held on 8 December 2026, will focus on the impact of artificial intelligence on travel sales. Students will have the opportunity to discuss the latest developments with experts from the industry and academia.

On 8 December 2026, the Faculty of Tourism and Transport will host the first Worms Tourism Day (WTT). From 10.00 am to 3.00 pm, the focus will be on the theme ‘AI in travel sales – opportunities, challenges and solutions’.

Artificial intelligence is transforming the tourism industry at a rapid pace. New applications are already influencing travellers’ information-seeking and booking behaviour. At the same time, business models, competitive structures and advisory processes in travel distribution are undergoing fundamental change. The Worms Tourism Day addresses these developments and offers students the opportunity to engage with current issues and benefit from the perspectives of selected experts from both the industry and academia.

The WTT is designed as a new, student-centred format. Through input from experts in the tourism industry and tourism studies, interested students will gain in-depth insights into a current industry topic and learn about different perspectives. In addition to specialist input, the focus is particularly on dialogue between speakers and participants.

In 2026, the focus will be on the diverse impacts of AI on travel distribution. Discussions will cover the potential and limitations of intelligent technologies, as well as their influence on advisory services, sales, customer communication and future career profiles within the tourism sector.

Students from all Faculties at Worms University of Applied Sciences are invited to take part in Worms Tourism Day and to secure their place well in advance. Advance registration is compulsory and can be completed by 1 December 2026 via the Moodle course for Worms Tourism Day.

In addition, there is the opportunity to apply to take part in the WTT Roundtable. This exclusive discussion forum offers selected students the chance to explore the event’s theme in greater depth in a small group setting alongside the speakers, to raise their own questions and to discuss different perspectives. Information on the application process can also be found in the Moodle course.

With the Worms Tourism Day, the Faculty of Tourism and Transport is establishing a new event format that strengthens dialogue between students, academia and the industry, whilst addressing current developments in the sector. Interested students should make a note of 8 December 2026 now and register in good time.
