Seafile
What do I need this for?
As part of the Rhineland-Palatinate Data Centre Alliance (RARP), the University of Mainz offers the central ‘Sync & Share’ platform Seafile to all staff and students at universities and higher education institutions in Rhineland-Palatinate. Seafile is comparable to solutions such as Dropbox, Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. The data is stored on servers within the RARP and is not shared with external providers. Seafile is therefore a data protection-compliant alternative to using commercial service providers. Each student is allocated 20 GB of storage space, whilst staff start with a capacity of up to 100 GB.
- The synchronisation feature allows you to synchronise data across your own computers, tablets and mobile phones, so that you can access it from any device.
- The share functionality allows you to exchange data with colleagues from Rhineland-Palatinate and beyond, and to edit it collaboratively.
- The Desktop Drive Client offers the option to integrate Seafile as a virtual network drive.
