Visual Computing

In the Visual Computing specialisation, you will combine computer science with digital media. You will learn how people communicate with computers through images, videos, speech and 3D worlds. User-friendliness, design and functionality play a key role in this. You will learn how to design digital applications that are understandable, accessible and usable.

The focus is on interactive systems, graphical user interfaces, audiovisual media and AI-supported applications. You will learn how digital content is technically implemented and designed to be understandable.

Whether it’s 3D modelling, augmented reality, voice assistants or visual data analysis: here you’ll gain the expertise to design digital applications that are clear, accessible and intuitive – grounded in technical expertise and with a creative flair.

Digital. Visual. Human.

This focus area centres on three areas:

  • human–computer interaction
  • communication using visual and auditory media
  • the design and technical implementation of digital content

You will combine technical knowledge with creative skills. You will learn how visual systems work and how to design them in a way that is understandable and usable for people.

Here’s what you can expect

You will learn how digital content is created and how to design it in a way that people can understand:

  • 3D models and animations
  • Image and speech processing
  • Interactive interfaces
  • AR/VR applications
  • Design and media production
  • AI for images, speech and media
