Evaluations
Through university-wide surveys, the ZQM provides an empirical basis for decision-making in relation to degree programmes and teaching. The ZQM collects, analyses and interprets feedback throughout the entire student lifecycle, thereby promoting an evidence-based culture of quality across all stages of study.
The intake survey is aimed at all first-year students at the start of the semester. It finds out how they became aware of the university, what experience they bring with them, and why they chose to study here. The results provide an insight into the background and expectations with which students begin their studies.
Course evaluations give students the opportunity to provide feedback on their experiences of the courses they have attended. The focus is on the course content, the way the material is delivered, and the learning environment. This feedback helps lecturers to reflect on their courses and improve them.
The graduate survey invites graduates to reflect on their degree programme after they have graduated. It assesses how they experienced the course content, organisation and overall study conditions. The results provide insights into the strengths of the degree programme and identify areas for further development.
The alumni survey is aimed at graduates who completed their degree at least two years ago. It focuses on their experiences of entering the workforce and their retrospective assessment of their degree programme from a professional perspective. The results provide insight into how the course content prepares students for the demands of working life and offer guidance for the further development of degree programmes.
Evaluations are an essential part of our active, scientifically grounded culture of quality. Students’ experiences and perspectives form an indispensable basis for the continuous development of degree programmes, teaching and the university. As part of the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle, their feedback is systematically analysed, translated into specific improvement measures and assessed for effectiveness. Broad participation strengthens the validity of the results and helps to shape the university collaboratively and sustainably.
