The Interdisciplinary Centre for Digital Experience Design (IZEd) brings together the Faculties of Tourism/Transport and Computer Science at Worms University of Applied Sciences. The research group develops digital services that create a cohesive experience for users.
To this end, the IZEd combines concepts from marketing, interaction design and visualisation. Its work focuses on service design, augmented reality and virtual reality, as well as digital solutions for tourism, destination marketing and events.
The following students, amongst others, have been involved with IZEd in recent years:
The app guides tourists and locals alike through three short stories about the ‘Heiliger Sand’ Jewish cemetery and the area surrounding the synagogue and the mikveh. The stories are richly illustrated with photographs and drawings from various decades and take users on a journey through time to the years 1905, 1985 and 2018. Along the way, they gain a wealth of information about the monuments, as well as Jewish history, traditions, scholars and families.
In addition, users can explore Jewish Worms as if using a classic digital travel guide: the app summarises the information from the stories at more than 30 locations in the cemetery and around the synagogue. It also provides practical advice for visiting the SchUM sites in Worms, such as opening hours, car parks, visitor rules and tourist facilities.
