27th Tax Day at Worms University of Applied Sciences
‘Inheriting, eating, drinking and smoking – steering behaviour with minor taxes? Current developments’
The 27th Tax Day at Worms University of Applied Sciences will take place on 20 November 2026. It focuses on a tax policy issue that is controversial from a social, economic and legal perspective.
So-called minor taxes are part of everyday life: when we consume certain products, buy packaged goods or follow supposedly ‘unhealthy’ habits. They generate revenue for local authorities. Often, however, they are also meant to influence behaviour.
But how effective and fair are such levies really? Where are their limits between political ambitions, administrative effort and public acceptance?
The Tax Day looks at these questions from different angles. Experts from academia, business and tax consultancy will discuss current developments on these topics:
- packaging tax
- taxation of human vices
- inheritance and gift tax
The focus is on tax policy objectives and their practical consequences for businesses, public administration and society.
For many years, the Tax Day has been an established conference for discussing current issues in tax law and tax policy. It is aimed at:
- advisers
- managers from tax and legal departments
- staff of the tax authorities
- representatives of business and trade associations
- interested entrepreneurs
The Tax Day is also where the ‘Worms tax community’ meets. Former and current students, lecturers and long-standing supporters of the Taxation programmes come together here. They catch up, exchange professional views and maintain their networks. The breaks and the joint evening reception offer a particularly good opportunity for this.
Attendance is free of charge. You can register up to and including 16 November 2026.
