Working together for a sustainable university
The Green Office is the central hub at our university where students and staff come together to discuss sustainability, develop creative solutions and implement projects that promote a sustainable future. Our aim is to make the university more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.
We aim to
- ...support and promote initiatives and projects that advance environmental awareness and sustainable practices at the university.
- ...serve as a platform for interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration between students and staff.
- ...offer workshops, lectures and events on various sustainability topics.
- ...establish sustainability as part of everyday university life by developing measures.

Hi, I’m Kathrin!
I’m a Bachelor’s student in Applied Computer Science and have been part of the Green Office team since August 2025. For me, sustainability means making a big difference through small steps. I want to inspire students to act more consciously and show that sustainability can be simple, creative and part of everyday life.
Hi, I'm Anh!
Hi, I’m Anh!
I’m studying for a bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management and have been supporting the Green Office team since March 2026. For me, sustainability means working on my own habits with discipline and awareness. My aim is to show that even small, consistent steps in everyday life can make a big difference to our environment and our community.
Ongoing projects
Here you can drop off items in good condition or take away things you can use – it’s really straightforward and free of charge.
Our swap cupboard has been up and running since December 2025 and is actively used. Decorative items, everyday objects and many other items in good condition find new owners here and are given a new lease of life. This helps conserve resources, reduce waste and brings sustainable sharing to life in everyday life.
As part of the Tork PaperCircle® project, used paper towels from the toilet facilities in Buildings A to D are collected separately and sent for recycling. By providing additional general waste bins and clearly labelled stickers, the Green Office promotes effective waste separation – resulting in less waste and significant CO₂ savings.

“Doing Deeds, Planting Seeds” is a weekly community gardening project in the KHG garden in Worms, initiated by committed students. The project involves planting herbs, flowers and vegetables to beautify urban spaces, improve air quality, promote biodiversity and raise awareness of sustainability.

At the freshers’ welcome events, the Green Office introduces itself to new students and provides an insight into its work and projects. This is an opportunity to make initial contacts and discover ways to get involved in sustainable initiatives.
Completed projects
The Green Office took part in this year’s Rhine CleanUp organised by the City of Worms, thereby actively demonstrating its commitment to environmental protection and collective action. The event highlighted just how much rubbish ends up in our natural environment without us realising it, and the impact this has on rivers.
The Games Weeks at the Green Office offered a wide range of interactive activities centred on sustainability. From board games such as Catan Energies and E-Mission, which bring environmental issues to life, to workshops such as the Climate Puzzle and the escape game ‘The Last Chance’, they provided an entertaining way to engage with climate policy and environmental protection in a playful manner.
Under the motto ‘Playing with a Purpose!’, board games were played that bring the environment and sustainability to life. Play, learn and have fun!
Depending on demand, gaming events can be organised with the Green Office.
During our city walk, we explored sustainable places in Worms together (such as the urban gardening project, the ‘green rooms’, the fair trade shop and shady spots to escape the heat) and shared our experiences of putting climate action into practice. The main aim was to bring people interested in sustainability together to chat and discover new perspectives.
