The bachelor's degree leads to a first professional academic degree. It serves to convey the fundamental interrelationships in the field of business computing, introduce students to subject-specific, computer-science-related and business management purposes and to prepare them for a real-world work-environment in business computer science respectively a consecutive master's degree. In order to work across industries in companies or administrations, a broad knowledge in economics is imparted. For jobs in application development or technical consulting, skills in the area of ​​system development are taught in particular. The key areas of business computing convey soft skills, which are required for consulting and planning discussions with clients, as well as basic skills such as mapping business processes with the help of information systems.

After completing their bachelor’s degree, students have the opportunity to pursue a (dual) master’s degree and acquire the qualification for a doctorate.

Content

The bachelor's degree is divided into the first four semesters, the internship semester and the final semester which includes the elective subjects and the thesis.

The first year of the bachelor's program begins with an introduction to business computing and the modules management as well as presentation and communication training. In addition, special attention is given to teaching general skills in the areas of computer science, mathematics and business administration.

The central theme in the second year are the core areas of business computing with modules concerning ​​business information systems, which are targeted from the computer science and economic perspective.

The third year is characterized by external elements which, either in the form of an internship semester or a semester abroad, contribute significantly to strengthening the qualification profile of the students in the sense of a holistic competence development. During the internship semester, this is equally guaranteed by the practice-oriented deepening and hands-on implementation of the acquired knowledge in the diverse environment of an industrial, commercial or service company. During the semester abroad, this is ensured by the intercultural exchange at the partner university's location in conjunction with further strengthening of professional competence.
