Access to university studies is regulated by law. According to the Higher Education Act of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, you need a so-called university entrance qualification to be able to take up a bachelor's or master's degree programme. If necessary, further admission requirements have to be fulfilled, which we would like to inform you about in the further course.
University Entrance Qualification
Anyone interested in a bachelor's or master's degree programme needs either the general university entrance qualification, the university of applied sciences entrance qualification or the subject-specific university entrance qualification as a university entrance qualification. Alternatively, access to a bachelor's degree program is also possible through the so-called professional qualification. What this means exactly is explained below:
General University Entrance Qualification
The general higher education entrance qualification qualifies the holder to study at universities of applied sciences and universities.
Subject-specific University Entrance Qualification
In conjunction with verification of relevant prior practical training (pre-study internship), it grants you the right to study at the department/degree program that corresponds to the subject or the subjects that can be studied at a university according to the certificate.
University of Applied Sciences Entrance Qualification
The university of applied sciences entrance qualification (theoretical part + prior practical training; usually a completed apprenticeship) entitles you to study any discipline at Worms University of Applied Sciences. Applicants who have prior practical training that does not correspond to their desired field of study must also have relevant practical training, which may vary in time based on the requirements of the individual departments. Admission qualification that is the equivalent to the university of applied sciences entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife): acquired at a German high school (Gynasium), institute (Kolleg) or night school (Abendgymnasium).
Foreign Higher Education Entrance Qualifications
The entitlement to study results from the respective resolutions of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany.
After a precise assessment and verification of your study entitlement from your home country, a decision is made as to whether you can be admitted directly to the desired specialised study programme. This depends on whether your university entrance qualification is assessed in exactly the same way as the German university entrance qualification. You have the opportunity to find out in advance from the Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienst/ DAAD whether or not you have direct university access by stating your country of origin or the country in which you obtained your Abitur. If this is not the case, you must first take the "Prüfung zur Feststellung der Eignung ausländischer Studienbewerber für die Aufnahme eines Studiums der Fachhochschulen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland", or Feststellungsprüfung for short, at a so-called Studienkolleg (preparational college). Please inform yourself directly about the assessment test or admission to a Studienkolleg at the Studienkolleg in Kaiserslautern responsible for us.

Academic test center (APS)
What is a certificate from the APS?
The Academic Evaluation Service (APS) is a service facility of the cultural departments of the German embassies in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It examines the documents of applicants who want to apply for studies in Germany with a Chinese, Vietnamese or Indian school or university degree. After a successful examination, the applicants receive a certificate. This certificate confirms that the documents submitted are genuine and that the academic achievements are sufficient for study at a German university.
Who needs an APS certificate?
All applicants who would like to apply for studies at a German university with a Chinese, Vietnamese or Indian school or university degree.
This applies to bachelor's and master's degree programs
Applicants with documents from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan do not need a certificate from APS.
How do I apply for a certificate from the APS?
The certificate of the APS is issued in China by the Cultural Department of the German Embassy in Beijing and Shanghai. For applicants from Vietnam, the APS in Hanoi is responsible, and for those from India, the APS in New Delhi.
By when do I have to submit the certificate?
For the application, please upload your digitally signed APS certificate in the applicant portal, at the latest, however, at the time of enrollment.
First professional degree (Bachelor, Diplom, Magister)
Anyone wishing to apply for a master's degree must be able to prove that they have completed a bachelor's degree in addition to their university entrance qualification. The content of the bachelor's degree must match the master's degree in which you are interested. Further information on this can be found on the pages of the corresponding Master's programs.
Note for foreign certificates: Applicants with a foreign degree are required to pay a processing fee of € 25.00 in accordance with the state fee ordinance. Please note that your application will not be processed until the deposit slip was submitted together with the application. The fee must be paid within the application phase, otherwise, your application will not be considered for the selection process.
Further subject-specific admission requirements
Some degree programs have subject-specific entry requirements in addition to the general entry requirements listed on this page: For example, you may be required to have knowledge of a foreign language at a certain level, an internship, or to answer a questionnaire. If you are interested in a dual study programme, a completed training or internship contract with a cooperating company of UAS Worms is usually an admission requirement.
Listing all the admission requirements for each degree programme would go beyond the scope of this website. When you look at our range of courses, simply check whether there are any further subject-specific entry requirements in addition to the general entry requirements mentioned above.
