Alumni Mentoring “Get started”: The Alumni Mentoring Program for a Successful Career Start
Your Launchpad to the Future. Connected. Together. Successful.
The Mentoring Program at Hochschule Worms connects students approaching graduation or who have recently graduated with experienced alumni.
Through regular meetings, alumni share their professional experiences and support students during their career orientation and entry phase. This gives students valuable insights and guidance for this important transition into the professional world.
Why Mentoring?
Mentoring is a tool for professional and career development.
In a one-on-one relationship, less experienced individuals learn directly from those with more professional experience. The mentoring program connects alumni with current students. Together, they explore topics related to starting a career and develop strategies to successfully navigate this important turning point in professional life.
Both sides benefit:
- Mentees gain practical support for entering the workforce.
- Mentors engage with fresh perspectives and share their experiences.
Who can become a Mentee?
Students in their penultimate or final semester, as well as graduates within one year of completing their degree, who are about to enter the workforce or have done so within the past year, are eligible to apply as mentees for the program.
A prerequisite for participation is membership in one of the alumni associations: Alumni-Club Worms e.V. or IBA Alumni e.V. (There are special student memberships available at a very affordable rate.
Who can become a Mentor
Anyone whose career entry was at least three years ago is eligible to apply as a mentor—ideally alumni of Hochschule Worms.
What Does Participation in the Mentoring Program Cost?
Participation as a mentee is free of charge for students of Hochschule Worms who are members of one of the alumni associations. For mentors, participation is always free.
How Long Does a Mentoring Cycle Last?
Each mentoring cycle lasts one full year. The mentoring year begins in April and ends in March of the following year. During this time, mentees and mentors typically engage in 6 to 12 one-on-one mentoring sessions. In addition, a supporting program is offered, which includes a kick-off and closing event, several networking activities, and various workshops.
