Why do I need it?
As part of the Rhineland-Palatinate Data Center Alliance (RARP), the University of Mainz offers all employees and students at universities and colleges in Rhineland-Palatinate the central Seafile sync & share platform. Seafile is comparable to solutions such as DropBox, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive. The data is stored on computers within the RARP and is not exchanged with external providers. Seafile is therefore a data protection-compliant alternative to using commercial service providers. Each student is allocated 20 GB of storage space, while employees start with a capacity of up to 100 GB.
- The sync functionality allows you to synchronize data from your own computers, tablets, and mobile phones so that it can be accessed from any device.
- The share functionality allows you to exchange data with colleagues from Rhineland-Palatinate and beyond and to edit it together.
- The Desktop Drive Client offers the option of integrating Seafile as a virtual network drive.
